August 27, 2026 — Remington announces the availability of its new Royal Flush Grouse & Quail loads. The speedy new small upland bird loads deliver excellent patterns at high velocities with Remington’s consistent, reliable, and deadly performance. The four new loads include two 12-ga. loads with a muzzle velocity of 1,300 fps, and two 20-ga. loads with a muzzle velocity of 1,220 fps. These new products are being delivered to dealers nationwide.

“Our Royal Flush loads are the ultimate upland-hunting load suited for all game birds found in the timber or field,” said Ronnie Evans, Remington’s Shotshell Product Manager. “Available in a variety of lengths, payloads, shot sizes, Royal Flush is sure to sweep the table against any upland game you’re after. They feature magnum-grade copper-plated payloads to ensure knock-down power. No matter what you flush in the field, this shotshell takes the pot.”

The new Royal Flush Grouse & Quail feature the smaller shot sizes of No. 7.5 and 8, which are most desired by hunters targeting smaller upland game birds. The new loads are available in four configurations and are sold in 25-round boxes.

Quail Forever volunteers are the front line of quail-habitat preservation. Not only do they proudly get their hands dirty when it comes to land restoration, but local chapters harness the power of their community to funnel resources into the national organization in support of conservation through lobbying, education, and relationships with government and non-government agencies, which all get behind the common goal of safeguarding quail through methodical land stewardship. 

Several of Quail Forever’s go-to partners are the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), as well as the non-profit organization Tall Timbers. Tall Timbers pioneered prescribed burning to promote healthy quail landscapes, beginning in its own backyard of the legendary bobwhite quail belt called the Red Hills Region that encompasses North Florida and South Georgia.

Quail hunters north of Interstate 40 in the Texas Panhandle enjoyed a good quail season this year. Most of that region had received above average rainfall over the past year, and range conditions were good to excellent. Unfortunately, excellent range conditions in this area also equate to an increased risk of wildfires when red-flag conditions reign, as they did the past 2 days.

The 2020–2021 hunting season for wild quail was another great one in the Red Hills and Albany Areas and across the Southeast! Locally, some properties had one of their best seasons on record. Additionally, properties in the Carolinas, Alabama, and Central Florida observed high covey finds for their respective areas, further increasing landowner interest in wild quail hunting opportunities. What facilitated this year’s successes? Overall, hunt success is due to a combination of good cover conditions, high bird carryover, and favorable scenting conditions. Clay Sisson, the Director of the Albany Quail Project and Livingston Place Research further provides the following reflective thoughts and future perspective:

This “bull market” has been the result of excellent management helped along by good summer weather, high cotton rat numbers, and a widespread new ground effect, as a result of cleanup following the 2017 tornadoes and hurricane Michael in 2018. We documented these high-density populations back in the fall, but it’s always interesting to see what the hunting season brings. Despite a warm and dry forecast, we had great weather most of the season. Abundant rainfall and cool temperatures made for good hunting condition’s right up until the last week of February. These high densities and good hunting weather made for a memorable hunting season that was at or near record levels in some cases.
