Winning Tips from the Greats

?May 3, 2024

A responsibility of the hunter is to follow the flight of the birds so he will know generally where they alight. This is the only way he can get his dogs to them for hunting the single birds. There is plenty of time after the shooting to do this. The birds are out of range quickly but not out of sight. Keep an eye on them, pin down their location ?? again using landmarks such as a hill, stream, or cliff ?? and then turn your attention to collecting the birds you downed.

This tip came from the book ??Coveys and Singles ?? The Handbook of Quail Hunting? by Bob Gooch.

Safeguard Your Shotguns on the Road With the Portable Field Vault From Crushable Vault

The Field Vault combines the security of the Original No.1 Crushable Vault with a simplified internal locking system. Wrapped in American made 18-oz. waxed cotton duck canvas, the Field Collection comes ready for travel. Solid brass zippers and leather accents make these bags ready for the field or in the back of your automobile.

The Field Vault secures your guns in their Negrini-style cases with an Integrated Cable Locking System that is cinched down around your gun case(s).?The adjustable cable locks run through the sewn-in tunnel systems that are built into the sides and bottom of the Vault. The Internal Snare consists of two 10-mm diameter braided-steel locks for maximum strength and flexibility. The first lock is designed to run through the handle of a Negrini-style gun case and the second lock is intertwined and connects to the vehicle.

The new Field Vault collection is made by the same company that introduced Americans to their No.1 Crushable Vault: an advanced, lightweight, soft-sided case that secures one or two shotgun breakdown cases in the back of your SUV, pick-up truck, car or hotel.
