The Churchill, or instinctive, system is designed to build the lead into the gun mount and swing and establish the necessary lead without the shooter being aware of the exact amount of that lead. It relies on the eye’s instinctive capabilities and a gun-mounting style that will incorporate lead into the swing. The gun-mounting style is designed to create sufficient momentum in the gun and the shooter to carry the muzzles through the target and automatically establish the correct lead.

 

This tip came from the book “The Orvis Wingshooting Handbook – Proven Techniques for Better Shotgunning – New and Revised” by Bruce Bowlen.
